• SERVICE LINE MATERIAL INVENTORY PROJECT

To comply with requirements of the U.S. EPA's proposed Lead and Copper Rule Revision (LCRR) by 2024, Tunkhannock Borough Municipal Authority is undertaking a project to identify the service line material type on both the company side and the customer side for all of its customers. We need your help.

Determining what material every customer's service line is made of - including the lines owned by them and not just by us - is a massive undertaking, and we're asking our customers to take this request seriously and please respond so we can take action accordingly.

In addition to customer surveys, the project includes reviewing existing records and conducting field investigations, which may include in-home inspections and digging test pits to look at service lines.

  • PLEASE FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, AND UPLOAD A PHOTO OF YOUR SERVICE LINE.

  • Identify your pipe material:

    TYPES OF PIPE

Galvanized: A dull, silver-gray color. Use a magnet - strong magnets will typically cling to galvanized pipes.

Copper: The color of a copper penny. Non-magnetic.

Plastic: Usually white, rigid pipe that is jointed to water supply piping with a clamp. Note: It can be other colors, including blue and black. Non-magnetic.

Lead: A dull, silver-gray color that is easily scratched with a coin. Use a magnet - strong magnets will not cling to lead pipes.

  • If you cannot determine your service line material and require assistance, please contact our office at (570) 836-3493 to schedule an in-home visit from one of our representatives. All employees of the Tunkhannock Borough Municipal Authority will be carrying official photo ID badges. We encourage you to check for proper identification before allowing anyone identifying as a utility representative into your home.
